Homecoming Players proudly presents Easy Out, a world premiere of a new comedy by the author of the 2014 breakout hit, Dotty.
One weekend only!
July 28-30 (three performances)
Fri & Sat at 7:30 pm
Sun matinee at 4:00 pm
A tumultuous battle for power rages between middle-aged and repressed Gerald and Angel—the boorish and resentful younger sister of Gerald’s dying longtime companion, Albert. With unexpected assistance from Andy, a charming hospice nurse, Gerald struggles to break out of the closet at long last, and into the uncharted territory of Act Three of his life.
Easy Out is the sequel to Bicknell’s earlier, critically acclaimed play, My Great Dead Sister, in which we met Gerald as an angst-ridden teenager.
Praise for My Great Dead Sister
“Bicknell has succeeded in shaping all his characters into interesting human beings, totally believable, easily identifiable, and in so doing has created an absorbing, moving play that lingers in memory long after the final curtain.” –Variety
Praise for Dotty
“Bicknell’s characters are presented in all their complexity, with great humor and almost unbearable pain (as opposed to pathos). Sitting in the audience, one cannot anticipate from one breath to the next whether one will be laughing or crying.” –Greg Bostwick, professor of acting at Ithaca College
Directed by Rachel Hockett
Stage Manager: Kristina Feldesman
Featuring: Mike Davie as Andy; Elizabeth Livesay as Angel; Chris Nickerson as Gerald
